Beijing China has a very interesting history. The name of Beijing has changed over the years, as the capital of China has been moved to different cities. During those times, the city was called Beiping and sometimes called Yanjing. Back in 1949, the Communist Party of China changed the name back to Beijing to signify that it was indeed the capital once again. Taiwan disagreed and continued to call it Beiping. Today, however, the city is indeed called Beijing by most everyone.

Beijing China is also been known as Peking China. The two names Beijing and Peking lead to some confusion amongst most foreigners. Beijing and Peking are, in fact, the same name in Chinese. In the past Beijing spelled out with the Latin alphabet, such as in English, became Peking. The spelling of Beijing replaced Peking in China in 1949. Around the 1980's however, China began forcing the use of the spelling of Beijing for airline flights, and such.
